In our nine-to-five lives we confuse urgency with importance
even worse, importance is ignored and urgency is building a fence
we use urgency as an excuse to avoid thinking about what is important to us
senseless daily clutter fills our time and heart and we let it make such a fuss
the voice is there but we have lost the ability to hear
we can't see either, even though the signs are all clear
we have listened to our parents and teachers without doubt for too long
we suppress our feelings, without them how should we tell right from wrong?
too many expectations to fulfill, too many molds to fit
and from within have formed some self-made habits to kick
there is a lot of baggage that we carry around
it gives us experiences but ties us to the ground
some we should keep, but most should simple be thrown over-board
let's do it now, we have already wasted more time than we can afford
simplicity will add some feathers to our wings
and free us up and open our soul to new things
over the years we pile up many toys
we expect that they will give us joys
but the real pleasures come from within
they are hardly ever reached through a competitive win
by the end of the day, you might ask what is the lesson to learn?
life is about many things but not about money and respect we earn
it is about the pleasures you give, it is about the pleasures you take
it is about the gifts you use, it is about the choices you make.
