Fall Weekend in the Alps
1997

This weekend I wanted to get away from it all
I wanted to feel unconstrained like in a free fall

I needed to forget everyday life and my job
find shelter from the hectic masses and the mob

I was seeking a new environment and the outdoors
you were kind enough to give me a glimpse of yours

you showed me parts of the world in which you live
lakes, hills, and scenic views - this is what you give

nature was great, the hikes so enriching and so full of joy
and when we had our lake-shore picnic I felt like a kid with a new toy

the lake was frozen, with a tiny island, and off the beaten path
could you think of a better place to sit, eat and laugh?

despite the snow and the coldness we were blessed with the sun
even the cooking in the evening and the night walk around the lake was fun

the air was so fresh and clean, the streams so clear
the good-bye and farewell nearly caused a tear

cherish the memories of these short days, I know that you enjoyed them too
and take these lines as a small token of thanks from me to you.
